Whatever you do… Do NOT take today for granted.

Does your morning feel special? What are your first thoughts? Take a moment to reflect; whether that be your to-do list for the day, situations and scenarios from the past, worrying for what the future has in store. Maybe fears and insecurities the days forward may hold… But have you ever thought about how today could be the last day you ever wake up?

Scary thought, right? But we have absolutely no control over any external force around us. No matter how hard we could try, the future is unpredictable. The bitter truth that “tomorrow is not guaranteed.” holds is chilling. Reflect on that.

We get comfortable into a routine. Some of us are happy and content with that but others are living for the weekend. Putting their happiness on hold for the future. Realistically that day of seeking happiness may never happen. Picture this; you may be coming home from the job you despise and out of nowhere your own life is taken. There is no longer that date in the future where you get your happiness. Nothing in life is guaranteed when it comes to relying on the future tense. There is too much out of our own control. This may sound extremely negative but it doesn’t have to be. There is always a positive light in any situation, it is all about searching for it.

Think about all of your dreams and desires. No matter how “unrealistic” they may be. I quote that because there are absolutely no limitations in this Universe but that will be another conversation. Are you currently working towards or have these? Are you living today as it is your best day ever? We have jobs, priorities, commitments but happiness doesn’t come from an external source. It is internal. Found within ourselves. Every single day has some good in it, and all it takes is to search and be aware.

Acknowledging all the great things we have in our lives. We each have our own terms that define this. This could be from being thankful you got the opportunity to wake up with a roof over your head, drinkable water, food, even to the elements we breathe in the air. The power of gratitude is lifting our vibrational set point we have with the universe and aligning it with our greatest desires.

The greatest desires that we want, we have to strive for that today at this moment. Present tense. Time is just a constructed man-made perception that our conditioned minds adapt to. We really only live and see currently. Our brains are what creates false interpretations of the future and reminisce over the past. We can’t truly be happy if we are distracted by things we can’t control. So why don’t we focus on the things we do control?

This may sound crazy but you are the one who is stopping yourself from achieving everything you want and letting yourself make the most of today. More specifically it is our ego. This is the part of our mind that puts fear into us and keeps us in our comfort zone. We feel as we are non-deserving of the best versions of our own lives. The truth is we are. We all had a very slim chance of making it on this earth. But here we are. We are living right now in this moment. We deserve to make this time on the planet the best we can.

Nothing is permanent in this lifetime. Living for each moment of the day and taking in our surroundings is all we can do. Why not live a life that we enjoy? Why subject ourselves to things that take a toll on our happiness, wellbeing, our single experience on this earth. Why don’t we act from a place of unconditional love? This isn’t anyone’s fault. We have just been thrown into a conditioned world that has been constructed to think and make us not feel enough.

It’s time to awaken and realize. Take some time to think about what you truly want. What aligns with your most authentic self and make it the reality. Live every single day as it is your last. Take in that beautiful sky, the sunrise, the smell of fresh laundry or baked goods while walking down the street. This all isn’t forever but can be the small things in life that add to the overall picture of happiness. Act from a place of love, kindness, and care. Make each moment count because once that moment is over it will never come back.
